Ruth's Chapel Christian School was begun in 1972 as a ministry of Ruth's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in New Bern, North Carolina.
The late Rev. Sigbee Dilda was the founding pastor of RCCS and also served as principal several years. David Thompson assumed the position of principal in 1980 when Rev. Lorenza Stox was pastor, and remained here until the end of the 2007 school year, at which time he left to assume a pastorate. Pastor Danny Elliott assumed the helm as Principal immediately after Mr. Thompson left.
We are thankful unto the Lord for His abundant blessings upon RCCS. Our graduates have been accepted into many colleges, both secular and Christian. They hold positions of service in not only churches, but also medical, business, law, government, and education fields. Many of those still in the area now send their children to RCCS.
We offer four-year old kindergarten through grade 12. The four year olds are incorporated in our day care program. Mrs. Frances Bell and five other workers minister to the children, ages six weeks and up. The day care is open Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM.
Carpeted floors, air-conditioning, and proper lighting provide excellent facilities in all of the buildings.
In the school, the A Beka and Bob Jones University curricula are used by the teachers in all of the classes. Sixteen teachers are employed by the school.
The students also have the opportunity to participate in sports programs including basketball and volleyball. These are organized sports in which we compete against other Christian schools.
