Music & Youth

A few words from Ben Hodges, our Music & Youth Director

Music

Music is valuable only to the degree of its object.  If God is valuable, one's worship to Him must reflect that same significance.  David said in Psalm 30:4 "Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness."  God is intrinsically holy and majestic.  Therefore, our worship should equal those attributes.  We believe that God is worthy of our best efforts because He gave His finest for us in Jesus Christ.  For that reason, we seek to worship Him with music that exemplifies His holiness and majesty.  Music has the potential to build up or to destroy the work of the Lord.  We at Ruth's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church endeavor to worship God through music that is honoring to Him and not man-centered.

Youth

The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.  This is no new concept.  However, little importance has been given to the subject.  Yes, our young people play sports and are members of all sorts of clubs; but what about their souls?  Does your young person know that learning about the Bible can be fun and interesting?  The goal of the youth ministry at Ruth's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church is to reach them at an early age with the story of Jesus Christ.  This initiative will head off worldly philosophies that seek to deter young people from the truth.  The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 19:14, "...Suffer (allow) little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me:  for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
